A short history
In 1992, Erika and Robert Hofacker founded the company La Bottega Toscana, initially as a retail store for Italian delicatessen, wine and especially terracotta products. After successful initial years, they expanded the business to include original Italian pizza ovens from the two manufacturers Valoriani and Fontana. They continued to develop the business with passion. Eventually, son Jens Hofacker joined the business. While the focus was still on delicatessen in the beginning, the pizza ovens took up more and more space.
In July/August 2002, construction work began on our new hall and business premises on the former military site "Bernbach Shooting Ranch" of the US forces in Freigericht-Linsengericht. The preliminary work for the steel hall and the granite stone walls was completed in September 2002. Over 90 tons of granite stones were required for the walls and tower from Italy. The assembly of the steel hall by company Franz-Freigericht took place in Oct. 2002. The floor area of the new hall is over 1000 square meters. The masonry works started in late autumn 2002, as well as the preparations for the 9 meters high tower, which now houses our Pizza School. On the first weekend of March 2002 there was a big opening ceremony.
Today we offer you at La Bottega Toscana a Tuscan experience with terracotta products, wines, spirits and delicatessen on about 500sqm. You can also experience Germany's largest Italian wood-burning oven and pizza oven exhibition. We present you on site wood baking ovens for the private and the gastronomic use in the sizes 50cm to 140cm diameter and various technical as far as optical executions. A visit is worthwhile.
